I've contacted support about the issue and their "fruit fly guy looked at them, he said he didn't know what that was. He hasn't had any mite problems back there". So, even though all the flies died within 6 days of receiving the culture, some of the larvae have hatched and I have a nice new supply of flies. And there are more 'babies' waiting to be born. I updated my rating to 5 stars because of this. No, it's not a big vial. If you need to feed these flies in abundance, you need a bigger culture. But I have to say, I am quite pleased that I have a continuous supply for my nymph mantises.
